Replacing Missing Teeth
Options for Replacing Teeth
Depending on the severity and location of the missing tooth, there are a variety of options for securely replacing the tooth. Dr. El Deeb will be able to determine the best replacement route after an examination with x-ray assessment. Here are some of the options available:
Fixed Bridge
A fixed bridge includes multiple teeth and replaces a tooth by securing to the two adjacent teeth. The adjacent teeth are usually ground down to ‘fit’ the two anchoring teeth in the fixed bridge.
Temporary Tooth
A ‘flipper’ is another term for a plastic, temporary, and removable tooth. This is secured with a plastic retainer and is usually for the upper teeth.
Partial Denture
A partial denture is a removable denture that is usually made from metal and plastic. It is secured by wire clips and can be removed by the patient.
Denture
Dentures are tooth replacement options for those people who are missing all the teeth in a row. Usually featured in elderly patients who have lost their teeth, patients with dentures experience different levels of comfort.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are the most permanent and comfortable of the missing tooth options. They are secured to the mouth by screwing into the jaw bone, Dental implants are considered permanent tooth replacement options.
