    What is Platelet Rich Plasma?

Platelet Rich Plasma allows your body to use its normal healing pathways to help you heal at an increased rate. While this procedure used to require a large amount of blood to be drawn, advances in technology now allow a useable number of platelets to be collected from a relatively small blood draw.

How Does Platelet Rich Plasma Help?

When your body is healing from an injury or surgery, many cells are sent to the healing site to expedite healing. One of the types of cells sent to aid in healing is platelets. These platelets help your body to form a blood clot and release growth factors that stimulate the regeneration of new tissue. By utilizing Platelet Rich Plasma, Dr. El Deeb can obtain the platelets your body needs to speed up the healing process after oral surgery.

What are Common Uses of Platelet Rich Plasma?

Platelets from Platelet Rich Plasma can be used in a number of cases at our office:

    • Repairing bone defects
    • Bone Grafting for Dental Implant Placement
    • Fistula Repair

If you are undergoing surgery in our office, ask Dr. El Deeb about Platelet Rich Plasma during your consultation.

    PRF Treatment (Platelet-Rich Fibrin)

A patient’s own blood is used to promote healing and regeneration but PRF is considered an enhanced version of PRP because it retains more white blood cells, stem cells and a fibrin matrix which contributes to a more sustained and potent healing effect. PRF is considered a better option than PRP especially for its long-term benefits and regenerative properties. PRF’s slower, more natural processing allows for a higher concentration of platelets, white blood cells and a fibrin matrix leading to a more sustained release of growth factors and enhanced tissue regeneration.
